Our priority

Protect horses, preserve nature

OR-LIMIT is above all an association committed to the protection and well-being of horses. We help horses at risk of slaughter or suffering from abuse so they can regain a good quality of life and, whenever possible, be adopted by responsible families.

We also advocate for freedom of movement on horseback and for the protection of nature through awareness and prevention, helping preserve the natural heritage of the Pyrénées-Orientales, particularly in the commune of Oms.

An association before being a boarding facility

OR-LIMIT is a French Law 1901 association founded in Oms, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Our priority is the protection and well-being of horses. Today, OR-LIMIT specialises in welcoming horses with respiratory disease, with small herds and a natural environment adapted to their needs.

Our primary mission

The association notably promotes equestrian activities through trail riding and non-competitive equestrian gatherings, encourages the sharing and transmission of equine knowledge, and contributes to defending freedom of movement on horseback.

OR-LIMIT is also committed to protecting nature and preserving the natural heritage of the Pyrénées-Orientales, particularly in the commune of Oms. This mission now goes hand in hand with a strong focus on welcoming horses with respiratory disease, with an organisation designed around their respiratory comfort and daily life.

Horse welfare

The association welcomes and cares for horses in a family setting. Our speciality is welcoming horses with respiratory disease, for whom we favour small groups of around 5 to 6 horses maximum per herd. This organisation allows us to monitor each horse attentively and follow its day-to-day development. Whenever possible, horse owners can also benefit from practical and theoretical advice in equine care.

Our work also includes helping horses at risk of slaughter or suffering from abuse, helping them find a new life with responsible families.

Our speciality is welcoming horses with respiratory disease, with particular attention to their environment, respiratory comfort and overall condition on a daily basis.

Our horses live in herds of around 5 to 6 horses maximum, on pastures of about 1 hectare, allowing us to keep groups at a manageable size.

🌿 Summer & winter pastures

We have dedicated summer and winter pastures, allowing horse and pasture management to be adapted throughout the seasons.

The OR-LIMIT estate

A setting designed for horses

In the commune of Oms, our estate covers several dozen hectares of natural areas, meadows and wooded, shaded spaces. This setting allows us to welcome horses with respiratory disease as well as horses in pre-retirement and retirement in a calm, nature-oriented environment. We organise horses in small herds of around 5 to 6 animals maximum, on pastures of about 1 hectare, with summer and winter areas.

Our roots in Oms

OR-LIMIT exists thanks to Oms

The commune of Oms, and especially its town hall, play an essential role in OR-LIMIT’s history and long-term future. Thanks to pasture land made available by the commune, the association was able to start, welcome its first horses and continue developing its protection mission.

Several landowners also lend us their land. These arrangements are invaluable, allowing the association to have several dozen hectares and provide horses with spaces suited to herd life.

🏛️ A partnership with the commune

The support of the commune of Oms, particularly the loan of pasture land by the town hall, is a founding element of our association. Without this land made available to us, OR-LIMIT could not have been created or continued its mission under the same conditions.

🌿 A partnership serving the local area

In return for the use of the land, OR-LIMIT helps maintain it through regular brush clearing and maintenance. Grazing and this maintenance help limit scrub growth and reduce the risk of fires starting.

The presence of horses helps keep the plots maintained over time. Combined with brush clearing and OR-LIMIT’s regular work, this management helps preserve natural areas and reduce fire risks on the land concerned.

We thank the commune of Oms, the town hall and the landowners who trust us for making their land available to the association.

I recommend this stable 1000%. Béatrice and Raphaël take great care of our horses; they are always there if we need to contact them or have any questions.

My mares were welcomed and treated like queens. They have magnificent grounds (they have put on good weight; food is certainly not optional there, and I find that rare these days).
You can go there with your eyes closed!!

Arrivé dans les PO, il y a 4 ans, nous recherchions une pension de pâturage pour notre Bobby qui souffrait à ce moment d’emphysème.
Cela fait 43 ans que je possède des chevaux avec des expériences pluridisciplinaires, et j’avoue humblement que j’ai dû remettre quelques certitudes en cause à propos des véritables besoins des chevaux en pâture…
J’ai beaucoup appris au contact de Béatrice qui est non seulement passionnée, mais aussi très compétente et entourée de professionnels sélectionnés sur le volet ( Vétérinaires, maréchal ferrant, transporteur, fournisseurs d’alimentation etc…).
De solides base en éthologie, alimentation et en soins ont permis à Bobby de se débarrasser de son emphysème !!
En effet Béatrice est très exigeante pour ses chevaux asthmatiques et emphysémateux en termes d’alimentation composée de fourrage enrubanné à certains degrés d’humidité, de paille de foin etc…
Les pâtures sont nombreuses et les chevaux y séjournent en général par petits groupes.
Un très beau cadeau à faire à des chevaux retraités et/ou atteints de pathologies chroniques.
Je recommande très vivement ce bel environnement et l’équipe OR LIMIT !!
